Message from our fellow Rotarian Glenn Watson
And schools in Huntsville

March 9, 2005

The two school I spoke to were in Tennessee. They raised $3,000.00 USD. I spoke to the Army officers wives club today and they will donate money also.

MY RTN friend Phillip Williams, who is helping me raise money knows how our Rotary clubs can get a grant . He will email you and together our clubs can get the Rotary international to help fund the osmosis project you mentioned. Sorry the money is coming so slow but you should have received $20,000.00 with more to come. I will check the bank this morning to be sure. Your friend and RTN brother Councilman Glenn Watson

Hello Chaisak, I just met with the local TV station who will send a camera with me and want to stay in touch regarding what our schools have done and will be doing in the future to build a strong friendships with our Thai friends. They want me to speak with some of the folks that we are helping and then send the video emailed for their nightly news. Our Huntsville Rotary would love to have video of you and I meeting with the Tongkah Rotary . The USA Schools will really enjoy seeing us give the school children supplies. One school ( Country Day School ) who already raised $3,000.00 dollars has raised and has raised another $ 600.00 dollars just from children's own personal monies. The children in America are really concerned about the children hurt in the Tsunami. When I tell them my story and experience, many cry and the teachers all have tears in their eyes. We are sending another $5,000.00 this week and more to come.

The meeting at Ban Kamala School will be a big story in the USA and especially Huntsville, Nashville and North Carolina. I will need Apha to interpret the meeting for the TV story. I really love Thailand and the people of Thailand. I will be looking forward to seeing you on the 31st of March. I will be staying in Kamala for 11 days. Your Rotary friend, Councilman Glenn Watson

Hello Rotarians; Many schools in the USA that I am working with have been proud to give to the Thai people who need our help. I have had many people walk up to me and give me checks for up to $ 1,000.00 Dollars. Today is 14 Feb and $5,000.00 more should be coming to you. As the bank system works slower that I like but it works and I will continue passing on the money as it comes in. I am very proud of you Rotarians and Apha. Councilman/Rotarian Glenn Watson

Mr. Watson,

Hello! Let me introduce myself. I am J.W. Lang from Whitesburg Middle school. I am the Builders Club Rep.(Key Club for middle) We are embarking on a unique fundraiser to help the Tsunami victims. We want to help you re-build the school in Phuket. We have talked about having pride in our school and discussed how difficult it must be to have your school completely taken away in one fell swoop. We have organized a Pie-a-thon. This is how it works- For every dollar a student puts toward a teacher their name goes into that teachers box. The more money the more chances to pie a teacher. The teachers that are the leading money winners will be pied! We really hope that we are not too late to help you out. The kids are very eager. Please let me know if we can help you! I really hope so, we have already been discussing it! J Thank you very much for your time and consideration. We look very forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
WMS Builders Club
J.W. Lang

Thanks very much for your support of the Phuket ( Kamala Bay ) relief . My Rotary friend is trying to establish an email between The Kamala school and our schools . I will ask him or my friend Apha or John to see if letters would work and if so what address would be best. The children have raised over $8,000.00 dollars and would love to interact with the Thailand students. We sent another $5,000.00 yesterday. We are sending the money in $5,000.00 increments. From our Rotary to The Rotary in Thailand. Glenn Watson

Good morning, I just wanted to let you know that I deposited $430.75 yesterday from money my students at Discovery donated to your fund. Also, I received an email from another teacher from the Rotary Club and I noticed with interest that Rock Creek Elementary in TN gave some money…my niece and nephew attend there. Also, I wondered if there is a way to send letters to children over there. I know my students would love to do that.

Thanks,
Sherri Shamwell

Hello. My name is Mike Meyer and I am a school counselor at Hawfields Middle School in North Carolina, near Raleigh. Our school recently had a charity drive for the Phuket Education Area Relief Fund. We are mailing the check to Huntsville, Alabama today. I have been in touch with Glenn Watson and he gave me your e-mail address.

I hope things are improving where you are. Some of our teachers will very likely be interested in the offer to exchange e-mails with students in Thailand. I want to get more information about how we can make this possible. We look forward to getting some of the pictures of the kids out there as well which we will share with our student body.

Thanks again Mr. Koaysomboon and talk with you soon.

Warmest wishes from the United States,

Mike Meyer
School Counselor
